USAID believes that decisions about whether and where to build roads, dams and other infrastructure should carefully evaluate biodiversity impacts and the opportunity cost of losing ecosystem goods and services. The Biodiversity Understanding in Infrastructure and Landscape Development (BUILD) Program helped current and future decision makers to make use of economic analysis for improved conservation and development outcomes. This profile summarizes BUILD's integrated approach and results with a focus on the course “Economic Tools for Conservation and Infrastructure Planning in the Albertine Rift."
