Sea Kayak Assessment of Pearl Lagoon, Nicaragua: Summary of Findings and Recommendations
Two coastal areas to the east and west of the community of Pearl Lagoon were visited to assess their potential for sea kayaking and water trails. These areas are covered with a humid rain forest dominated by varieties of mangrove, some of which are remarkably tall. Although visitors are unlikely to come primarily to kayak, these areas have potential as secondary tourism attractions for day tours. The small creeks that drain into the main lagoon would be attractive to Recreational and Adventure travelers, especially bird-watchers. Two water trails are proposed.
